A whole hand-held hammerstone, in Southern California archaeology. This multifacial stone is held in one hand. It is cylindrical in shape. The stone material is a quartzite (metamorphic) with muscovite mica. It is fine grained.
This stone has battering on two ends and one side. There is a flattened polished area on the ventral side. The dorsal side retains some of the cortex of the stone. The stone appears to be an unshaped cobble in construction.
