Description |
Bowl, ceramic; brownware; coiled and hand built with the paddle and anvil technique; round with a shallow bowl shape; decoration in red paint (most likely red ochre); abstract design with deltas, dots and flowers (collector's notes call them mountains and clouds); some white accretions on the underside and small surface scratches. Made by Owas Hilmawa (1871-1930) from the Manzanita Reservation. Piece has "Wasp" written in black ink on the bottom edge. This is a misinterpretation, by the original collector, of Owas' name. She was also known by the name Rosa Lopez. Dimensions: Height: 2.637", Diameter: 10", Rim Thickness: .236", Weight: 1.212 lbs. |
